Conceived as a comic book adaptation of MTV’s ‘The Real World,’ ‘True Life Story’ followed the lives of six adults relating their misadventures in comic book form.

This was among of many ideas presented to Bertelsmann Media Worldwide whose concerns were to increase declining interest in book-reading and dismal book sales. Other ideas for re-inventing and re-invigorating the book included books written by the general public via the web, changing the shape of the book and changes to books stores’ events and planning.
